What you’ll do

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities in the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Hydrogen (H₂) plants. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and facilities while adhering to industry regulations and company standards.

The Lead will provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of maintenance technicians and contractors, coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, and work closely with operations to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.

Key responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Develop and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment in the Green Iron production plant (DRP and HMP), including (but not limited to) compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and piping.
  • Ensure the maintenance schedule aligns with plant production requirements to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance, diagnosing faults and implementing corrective actions.
  • Liaise with the work planner for upcoming tasks and requirements.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment.
  • Implement and oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for maintenance operations.
  • Assist in the creation and control of Permit to Work (PTW) processes to ensure safe and compliant execution of maintenance activities.
  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting equipment failures, initiate/plan corrective action, and optimize plant efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to drive reliability and integrity improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain critical spares inventory and coordinate procurement of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Prepare maintenance performance reports, downtime analysis, and improvement plans.

Requirements

Education and Certifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (or related technical field) or proven extensive experience.
  • Certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) or relevant safety training are an advantage.
  • Certifications gained in the oil and gas industry related to maintenance are an advantage.

Experience

  • Extensive (+5 plus years) of maintenance experience in industrial plants, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in hydrogen production plants or similar industries such as petrochemical, gas processing, or refineries is preferred.

Competences and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, equipment reliability, and asset management.
  • Familiarity with rotating, reciprocating & stationary equipment, basic instrumentation, and process safety management.
  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and SAP.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of hydrogen safety practices, process systems, and equipment reliability or similar relatable industries.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English. Basic Swedish skills are considered an advantage.
