HVDC Yard Equipment SCM Manager, Västerås

The opportunity

As HVDC Yard Equipment SCM Manager, you will lead a global organization responsible for strategic sourcing, category management and supplier performance across a portfolio of critical high-voltage equipment used in HVDC projects worldwide. This includes categories such as: Power Transformers, HV Bushings, Breakers, Disconnectors, Surge Arresters, GIS & AIS Equipment, Capacitor, Reactor, Auxiliary Equipment.

This is a highly visible leadership position with significant exposure to senior business leaders across HVDC, Grid Integration, Engineering, Project Execution and Supply Chain Management.

You will play a critical role in ensuring supplier readiness, capacity, competitiveness and execution performance for a rapidly growing global project business while building a world-class category organization capable of supporting the future growth of HVDC.

You will be a member of the global HVDC SCM Leadership Team and report directly to the Global Head of HVDC Supply Chain Management.

How you'll make an impact

• Define and execute the global sourcing and category strategy for the Yard Equipment portfolio, ensuring competitiveness, supplier capacity, quality, sustainability and long-term business resilience.
• Build and manage a strong global supplier ecosystem, leading strategic supplier partnerships and executive-level engagements to support HVDC growth and large-scale EPC project commitments.
• Ensure successful sourcing execution across the full HVDC project lifecycle, from tendering to project delivery, by working closely with SCM, Engineering, R&D, Quality, Project Management and Operations teams to deliver competitive, executable and risk-balanced solutions.
• Anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks, market constraints and capacity challenges, while driving procurement strategies that support complex and fast-growing EPC project environments.
• Lead, develop and transform a global organization of Category Managers, Category Specialists and Category Buyers. Build a high-performing culture through organizational design, capability development, succession planning, talent growth and strong performance management.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions through market intelligence, data-driven insights and supply chain expertise.
• Drive innovation, digitalization and continuous improvement across category management, supplier collaboration and sourcing processes, while leading affordability and productivity initiatives that strengthen HVDC's competitiveness and growth ambitions.

Your background

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supply chain leadership or procurement within capital-intensive industries.
• Strong experience managing categories related to high-voltage equipment, power transmission systems, utilities, energy infrastructure, EPC projects or industrial manufacturing.
• Proven leadership experience managing global and multicultural teams, including leaders of leaders.
• Demonstrated success in building, transforming and scaling organizations to support significant business growth.
• Experience leading procurement activities for large-scale EPC, infrastructure, energy or industrial projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation and supplier relationship management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, influencing and executive presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively at senior leadership levels.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate market intelligence into business strategy.
• Track record of driving measurable business results through strategic sourcing and supplier partnerships.
• “Problem Solving mindset” assuring the role owner and the team would find solutions, in alignment with the internal/external stakeholders in case criticalities would emerge.
• Ability to lead in a fast-growing, complex and highly matrixed global organization.
